Queens-logo-October
The beautiful Jenny Butler from Queens of Vintage, who usually spend her time sharing fabulous vintage fashion and beauty secrets with us, came along to Dr. Sketchy London on the 17th February.

The first thing this lovely lady said to me when she arrived, was that she couldn’t draw. Well at Dr. Sketchy London if you can put a pencil on a bit of paper and move it around, thats good enough for us. And you never know, with some of our fun drawing tasks you might just be surprise with what you can do. At the end of the day it’s about enjoying yourself, being creative and of course having a few drinks.

I just love Sugarlesque! So I just had to make you all aware of the sweet seamstress Miss Ruka Johnson, who makes all this beautiful hand made lingerie.
Love your lingerie, love your blog and we love you at Dr. Sketchy.

Also if you’re feeling a bit crafty in more ways than one, watch her swap seamstress for mistress in a tipple tassel making workshops. I went along about a year ago, its easier than you think and means you can walk away with your very own bespoke pair and the ability to make countless more! Oh and she gives you tea and cakes.

We’re not just creatures of the night at Dr Sketchy London, and on Saturday 21st November we’ve decided to add daylight to our usual line-up of drinking and drawing.

We’ve got some new and old faces with two of my favourite boys back for more sketching antics; the deviously dashing SPENCER MAYBE, who will be revealing his talents as host for the day. And coming all the way from Glasgow; he’s tattooed, gorgeous and gets me into trouble – the deliciously dishy BUCK FAST who’ll be modelling and treating us to a brand new act.
Representing the ladies corner we have more modelling and burlesque from the truly beautiful and international starlet ANNETTE BETTE.

Dr Sketchy isn’t about being an amazing artist; it’s about having fun! So don’t be shy: put pencil to paper, move it around and see what happens – you might be surprised!

I’ve always wanted a picture of a sexy gal drawing the Dr. Sketchy logo. Sadly, I just couldn’t get the look I wanted. Then I saw the short film ‘Pollinate’, and I knew immediately that Miss Kitch was the illustrator I wanted for Dr. Sketchy London.

A bit about Miss Kitch…

Studying Illustration at university Victoria Kitchingman specialised in animation in her final year. She co-directed, wrote and animated ‘The Imperfectionist’ for Channel 4’s MESH scheme. She then went on to animate and win a Royal Television society craft award for her work on the BAFTA award winning comedy show ‘Fonejacker’, also for Channel 4.

While travelling the world, Victoria not only fell in love with New York, but rekindled her joy for life drawing classes. She told me they were different to the classes of her college days, being “far more relaxing than at school – I got to have a glass of wine and we were all there because we really wanted to be”.

Sounds like the perfect summary of the Dr Sketchy philosophy to us! In fact it wasn’t long before Victoria found herself wielding pencil and cocktail at everyone’s favourite anti-art school, at Dr Sketchy Sydney, where that relaxed atmosphere rubbed shoulders with the beautiful world of burlesque. Once back in London she came along to our Debauched relaunch and even bagged herself a prize.

It was at one of her regular trips to Dr. Sketchy that I asked Victoria about a little drawing I had in mind for the Dr. Sketchy flyer. Not only did she sweetly accept – and create something prettier than even I had imagined! – but soon she had etched lots of other girls that I just had to use. And so the look of the new Dr. Sketchy Web site began to take shape, with a beautiful burlesque boy or girl on every sizzling page of the site.

Dr. Sketchy London is absolutely delighted to team up with Miss Kitch, who has done all our illustration on the Web site — and with our online art shop coming soon you’ll be able to browse and even buy illustrations by Miss Kitch, along with books from our Dr. Sketchy founder Molly Crabapple.

Now to get her away from the pencil and onto the stage posing for a night!

Hello Sketchers

I’m having to move over the Dr. Sketchy London facebook fan page due to a grammatical error on the current one.

There’s no space in between Dr. and Sketchy and mean facebook won’t allow changes to the name on a fan page… boo!

So I’ve had to set up a new one, as people just can’t find Dr. Sketchy London to become a fan. And as happy as I am with all you fabulous fan’s, there is of course, nothing better than more.

Could I ask everyone who’s already a fan to be super sweet and change over to the new page, then I can close the old one down. And all those who aren’t a fan, well we’d love you to become one! Link below my drawing darlings.

Thanks a million!
